‘When life gets you down, walk towards your bliss’
You know how to make yourself feel good don’t you?
You know what gives you pleasure and opens you up to life don’t you?
Then here’s an experiment for you:-
Create a list of things that give you joy and commit to doing one a day for the next week.
At the end of each exercise, note how you feel in your body. This all seems so simple, but all too often we can let life drag us down. So if we cultivate awareness of this, we can begin to see that life is on our side.
When you wake up in the morning, allow yourself to really stretch your body out. You can do this before you even get out of bed. How you enter the day can have a profound influence on your ‘feel good factor’. Make an intention for the day. Bless this wonderful day you have been given. And if you feel sad or low, you can gently be aware of these feelings and hold them with love.
When was the last time you gave yourself a hug? It’s the most wonderful feeling. Being your own best friend is one of the best ways of connecting with your joy. Talk to yourself with love. Bring yourself back to life with your passion.
Every moment is an opportunity to choose a new thought, feeling or a new way to see things.
‘There are always flowers for those who want to see them” (Henri Matisse)
Another wonderful exploration is to practise the art of noticing beauty. With soft eyes look around you and notice colours, textures, look out of the window and allow yourself to absorb the wonder of nature.
Here’s a list of things which give me joy – what about you?
